A Quick History:
Our agency was started in a garage in 1989 by our company founder Chris Baxter, and the company quickly grew and moved to an office building located right in the middle of downtown Santa Barbara. We have remained in the same downtown location since 1990. The agency today is managed by Chris, and his two sons Dan Baxter and Tim Baxter. The agency is supported by a full staff of professionals.

Dan manages the day to day operations of the agency. He manages the Baxter team, works with with business partners, and is most passionate about serving Baxter Insurance’s clients. He has worked at the company since 2004 and has years of insurance experience. Born and raised in Santa Barbara, he graduated from UCSB with a degree in International Studies and Business Economics. Dan also went on to attend an executive insurance program at the Wharton School in Philadelphia, where he received a “Certified Adviser of Personal Insurance” (CAPI) designation. Over the past 20 years he has served the insurance needs of thousands of individuals, businesses, real estate owners, HOA’s, and non-profits. He is a lifelong Santa Barbara resident living in Santa Barbara and enjoys staying active in running, cycling, surfing, triathlons, and spending close time with family and friends in Santa Barbara.

Chris founded Baxter Insurance in 1989 from his garage. He quickly moved the company into it’s downtown Santa Barbara location, where it remains today. Chris grew the company to be one of the largest and most respected insurance agencies in Santa Barbara County. He has three sons who are all grown. He lives locally and in his free time enjoys hiking the trails and beaches of Santa Barbara with his Golden Retriever named Kai. He also enjoys traveling the world when he can get away. Chris has put in many volunteer hours in Santa Barbara, coaching over 30 different youth sports teams while his kids were young, including baseball, basketball, soccer, and football.

Tim Baxter is a full time licensed insurance agent and runs the new business team at Baxter Insurance. He manages new business personal and commercial lines property and casualty insurance. He has significant experience setting up and managing high value personal lines insurance programs for individuals and families. As well as setting up and ongoing management of commercial lines property and casualty business insurance including workers compensation, commercial properties, business insurance, and HOA’s. Tim is a partner at Baxter Insurance and has worked for the company for 8 years. As a UCSB alum and lifetime local Santa Barbara resident he is deeply rooted in the Santa Barbara community. Tim brings his positive energy into the office daily and is passionate about serving clients.
